New to Coaching
What to expect.
Coaching tends to make the most sense once you're in it. Here's an attempt at a description anyway, for those who need something less squishy.
Introduction Call
A chance to get acquainted. We'll talk through what's drawing you to coaching, what you're hoping to take away from it, and the working style that suits you best.
First Session
Our first 60-minute session. We start by establishing the shape of our work together: the overall timeline, how often we'll meet (typically bi-weekly), core principles, and any logistics we both need to show up at our best. Then we get into the concrete areas of focus that will guide the rest of our time.
Body of the Work
Each session starts with what's most alive for you in relation to your goals. Side quests are always welcome — we'll follow the thread and find our way back. At the close of each session, you define what you want to put into practice and what accountability looks like for you.
Wrapping an Engagement
As we near the end of our agreed timeline, we'll reflect on what's shifted, articulate where you are now, and consider how you want to carry the work forward.
Common Questions
A few things people often wonder.
How long before I notice something shifting?
Most people notice something in the first few sessions: not resolution, but a shift in how they're seeing the situation. What builds over time is self-awareness and the capacity to meet new situations differently.
Does coaching only make sense during a difficult period?
Not at all! Some of the best work happens when there's no crisis to solve, just a quiet sense that more is possible.
How is this different from talking to a mentor or a good friend?
A mentor has walked a similar path and advises from that vantage point. A coach holds up the mirror rather than pointing the direction.
What if I'm not sure what I want to get out of it?
We're here to figure that out together. Coaching doesn't require you to arrive with a singular outcome. It just requires genuine curiosity and a willingness to show up.
